USA South Names Side to Face Bahamas

USA Rugby South has named their roster to take on the Bahamas in early January. USA South is one of the few territories in the United States that offers consistent representative play. The Panthers represented the USA in the NACRA tournament starting in 2013. The side surprised many by winning the Championship in their first season. They backed that up with a runners-up performance in 2014.

The Panthers hit a snag in 2015 finishing 0-2 and at the bottom of the North Zone Championship pool. Having finished at the bottom of the pool, the Panthers are facing off against the Bahamas in a relegation match. The loser of the match goes to the North Zone Cup pool which is the second tier in the NACRA Championship. The match takes place in Nassau, Bahamas on January 9, 2016.

The Panthers have named a strong side that includes veteran stalwarts like Charlotte’s Matt Hughston, who has been in camp with the USA 7s, and Chance Doyle from NOLA. The side also has some up and coming collegiate talent. The squad is coming off of a 42-31 win over the Capital Union Selects last weekend that served as a warm up and selection vehicle for the Bahamas match.
