El Salvador down Panama in San Salvador

The host nation of the 2015 South American Championship, El Salvador, opened their account with a convincing win earlier today over Panama. The 32-0 win places El Salvador in a strong position to challenge for the title.

Los Torogoces converted a 10-0 half time lead into a six tries to zero victory in which the home side powered home. The scoreline could have been higher had goal kicking been on target as only one of the five conversions attempts were successful.

Also played today was Costa Rica vs Guatemala. Los Jaguares’ shock 19-17 victory means that the 2015 South American C Championship is wide open.

The second round of matches will be played on Wednesday with the winner of game 1 playing the winner of game 2 and the game 2 winner playing the loser of game 1. As such Guatemala will face Panama while Costa Rica will take-on El Salvador in a must-win encounter.

The final round, and tournament decider will bear played on Saturday.
