Argentine inside center Juan Pablo Socino will be seeing out his contract with the Newcastle Falcons, thereby ruling himself out of representing Argentina. The 27 year old is under contract with the Aviva Premiership side until 2018.
His decision was made before the Rugby World Cup where he earned his third and fourth caps against Namibia and South Africa. Having been a surprise inclusion on Daniel Hourcade’s roster this year Socino debuted against Australia in the Rugby Championship and got the vote of confidence with Hourcade taking only Juan Martín Hernández as a veteran inside or mid-field back.
Hernández is now back in Argentina are are the other squad members who played in Socino’s positions in 2015 – Jerónimo De la Fuente, Santiago González Iglesias and Nicolás Sánchez. All four will play Super Rugby for the Argentine franchise while Socino will see out his contract with Newcastle.
Alongside Socino at the Newcastle Falcons are former Pumas Belisario Agulla and Gonzalo Tiesi. Both players were a part of the Santiago Phelan regime but were excluded from Daniel Hourcade’s rosters. Also at the club as USA Eagles Eric Fry and Todd Clever of whom the former played at this year’s World Cup.
