Durutalo’s Impressive Break-down Work Rate vs Japan

With Scott LaValla and Todd Clever out of Rugby World Cup 2015 an opening presented itself for other U.S. players to earn their spot in the Eagles team. A number of players had their opportunities but no player was arguably as impressive as Andrew Durutalo.

The 28 year old New Yorker has been playing Rugby Sevens for the Eagles since 2011 but in 2015 was a stand-out performer at test-match level, impressing in both the Pacific Nations Cup and Rugby World Cup. Against Japan in the final pool match Durutalo completed five turn-overs.

His future is highly likely to be of a professional nature with him being an ideal player for the new PRO Rugby North America competition. He could, however, play Super Rugby with speculation suggesting that he is to play for the Japanese franchise, the Sunwolves.

Such a move would not be all-together foreign for Durutalo who graduated with a degree in Business administration from Hakuoh University in Kanto, Japan.
