Brazil Prepare for Germany this Saturday

The national men’s Brazilian rugby team, the Tupis are in Blumenau, Santa Catarina preparing to face Germany this coming Saturday. The fixture is to be the first of two test matches with the second taking place in São Paulo on Friday December 04.

The 29 athletes selected by Argentine Head Coach Rodolfo Ambrósio are busy training this week at the Estádio do SESI in Blumenau, the venue for the international. On Friday Ambrósio will name his 23-man roster for the match, thereby cutting four players who are currently involved in the preparations.

The fixture will see history being made as never before have Brazil and Germany met in a men’s rugby match.  It is to be  known as the Taça Cremer de Rugby and will count towards World Rankings. Brazil enters the game ranked 29th, compared to Germany’s position of 30th in the world.

The Germans are to arrive in Blumenau on Friday where they will be received by the German Consulate in the city. Blumenau was founded by German settlers and is the third largest city in Santa Catarina state.
