Guatemala Topple El Salvador in Test Match

The Central American republics of Guatemala and El Salvador met earlier today in a warm-up fixture for the upcoming South American C Championship to be played in El Salvador next month. Joining Guatemala and El Salvador in the four-nations tournament will be Costa Rica and Panama.

With the Copa Hermãn Arrua on the line Los Jaguares (Guatemala) showed their superiority to run-out 56-0 winners at the Estadio Erick Barrondo. Also in action were the women’s rugby teams from the respective countries and Guatemala completed a double to lift the Copa Hermán Arrua.

Guatemala’s preparations will continue next weekend with a match south-eastern neighbors Honduras. The fixture is to be the first ever test match in the history of Honduras.

Costa Rica is unique in being a member of World Rugby but it is just a matter of time until all meet the required criteria. All are current or future members of Sudamérica Rugby and the same is true of Nicaragua. Belize are focused on joining NACRA of which neighboring Mexico is a member.
