CASI Pulls out of hosting Super Rugby

CASI will not be the host venue for Argentina’s Super Rugby venue after all. La Catedral had publicly confirmed that it was to be the home ground for the country’s first professional rugby team but pressure from members has called for this to change and the club has now forced the UAR into seeking a Plan B.

It is the second dent in Argentina’s preparations for entering the Southern Hemisphere’s premier professional rugby competition after initial plans to play at the Parque Sarmiento were also unsuccessful. The UAR will now need to look for a new team base.

In response to the news a number of Pumas past and present vented their frustrations on social media. Fullback Joaquín Tuculet, for instance, tweeted that he “would have loved to have placed on the historic field”.
