Senatore Joins Argentine Super Rugby Franchise

Rosario’s favorite back-rower, Leonardo Senatore, was unveiled today as the latest signing by the UAR. The 31 year old has signed a two-year contract to play Super Rugby for the Argentine franchise and, in doing so, becomes the seventh back-rower on the roster.

Senatore’s confirmation will give the team plenty of options with him being joined by fellow World Cup number 8’s Facundo Isa and Juan Manuel Leguizamón. All three will be available for the Super Rugby team for the opening round match on February 26.

In being under contract Senatore will also be free to play for Argentina at every opportunity including potential involvement in the Americas Rugby Cup, CONSUR Cup, June internationals, Rugby Championship and November internationals.

UAR President Carlos Araujo expressed his delight at Seantore’s signing. “Leonardo is a player that any coach would like to have on his team. He is contante leader, hard worker and works hard to improve. For us it is an enormous happiness and financially very important to count on his presence, experience and dedication to play for the franchise and we don’t have enough words of gratitude to give Leonardo for joining us.”

Senatore told reporters that “the decision to return home was very strong: to play in such a tournament, to be with ones family on ones country, to have ones son grow in Argentina. There are many things which influenced the decision and I can say that Super Rugby is going to have an impressive dynamic that is difficult to find in any other tournament. There the game is above all else and it is clear that it is the best rugby that one can play”.

The Rosario’s contract will run from January 01 2016 until December 31 2017. The 106Kg and 1.91m back-rower joins after previously playing for Toulon in France and for the Worcester Warriors in England. He has appeared in two Rugby World Cups for Argentina.
