South Africa will play host to Argentina at Nelspruit’s Mbombela Stadium it was confirmed today. The third and fourth place teams from Rugby World Cup 2015 will meet on August 20 2016 for the first time in South Africa since Juan Imhoff’s famous hat-trick.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup venue has previously hosted three test matches but never a Rugby Championship fixture. The Springboks have previously hosted Scotland and Wales while Italy vs Samoa was played at the venue in 2013.
Also confirmed are the dates and venues for South Africa’s five remaining home internationals in 2016. South Africa will host Ireland for three tests in June while Australia’s Rugby Championship test will be in Pretoria and New Zealand’s in Durban.
