Colombia Roster for South American B Championship

The Colombian men’s Head Coach Raul Vesga Mujica has named a 25 man roster for the upcoming South American B Championship to be played in Lima, Peru. Colombia and Peru will be joined by Ecuador and Venezuela in a four nations competition with the winner advancing to repechage to take-on Brazil who finished bottom of the 2015 South American A Championship.

Colombia’s roster calls heavily upon players from the heartland of rugby in the country, Antioquia. Additional provinces represented include Guajira, Norte de Santander and Valle.

Ecuador’s 25 man roster for the tournament was named last week. Like in 2014 Ecuador enters as the bottom seed and Colombia as the top. Colombia won the 2014 edition of the tournament while Paraguay did so in 2012 and 2013 before joining South America A in 2014. Venezuela and Peru won in 2011 and 2010 respectively.
