Wallaby stars Israel Folau and David Pocock will miss out on the quarter-final against Scotland through injury. Australia’s impressive strength in depth, however, is apparent with Kurtley Beale lining up at fullback and Ben McCalman filling in at the back of the scrum.
Michael Hooper returns from suspension to take over from Sean McMahon in the no7 jersey, and Kane Douglas swaps with Dean Mumm in the second row. Stephen Moore and Matt Giteau each reach their 100 cap milestone, joining a half-dozen other Australians to do so previously, including teammate Adam Ashley-Cooper, winning his 112th cap to surpass George Smith as the 3rd most capped Wallaby.
Australia have not enjoyed great results against Scotland in recent years, losing two and winning by only six points in their previous three encounters. Prior to that, the Wallabies had an impressive 16-game winning streak against the Scots running from July 1982 until their loss at Murrayfield in November 2009.
