First choice Springboks to face Eagles

South Africa have opted to throw their best against a second-string USA in their meeting on Wednesday at the Olympic Stadium in London. Despite playing a physical match against Scotland on Saturday, head coach Heyneke Mayer has made only two changes to the run-on side to face the Eagles.

Frans Malherbe comes in at tighthead prop in place of Jannie du Plessis, and Lwazi Mvovo starts on the left wing, with Bryan Habana sliding to the right. JP Pietersen drops out of the match day squad altogether to make room.

South Africa look determined to end pool play on a high. After suffering a catastrophic defeat at the hands of Japan in the opening round, they have rebounded with strong performances against Samoa and Scotland, and now look in good shape to top Pool B despite the first round hiccup.
