Clever Scores in Falcons Debut

Former USA Eagle Captain Todd Clever scored a try in his debut for the Newcastle Falcons in their Kings of the North match against the Leicester Tigers last night. The Kings of the North is a series of pre-season matches between Premiership clubs in the North of England.

The Falcons fell behind 22-0 in the first 20 minutes of the match, but mounted a strong comeback before falling to the Tigers 30-28. Clever scored the first try for Newcastle as they pushed the Tigers hard the remainder of the match.

“I thought the turning point for us was Todd Clever’s try on his debut,” said Newcastle Director of Rugby Dean Richards in a release from the club. “That gave us a bit of belief and from then on in it was all Newcastle, really.”

“Todd throws himself around and it was a great start for him, but I thought there were telling contributions from a lot of players.”
