Galarza Cited for Alleged Foul Play

Argentine forward Mariano Galarza has been cited by the Citing Commissioner Murray Whyte of Ireland for an alleged act of foul play contrary to Law 10,4(m) during his country’s match against New Zealand in London on Sunday.

The case is to be heard by Independent Judicial Officer Christopher Quinlan QC (England) at the offices of RWC 2015 Official Law Firm Clifford Chance in London on 10:30am on Wednesday September 23.

Galarza was a first half replacement for Guido Petti who was forced off with a head injury suffered while scoring a try. Petti is expected to miss Argentina’s match against Georgia to allow him to fully recover.

Should Galarza be suspended Argentina would only have Matías Alemanno and Tomás Lavanini as specialist second-rowers and would thereby be forced to field an additional back-rower among the replacements.
