Uruguay Return to Winning Ways in Spain

South America’s number two ranked team, Los Teros completed preparation for the Rugby World Cup earlier this afternoon by playing against the Basque Country in a non-capped international played in the Spanish city of Gexto. Uruguay played well to complete a 41-19 victory over Basque Country, also known as the Euskarians.

The win sees Uruguay heading to the U.K. in a far better mood after failing to spark against Japan in the recent two match test series in Fukuoka and Tokyo. Next up for Los Teros is the eagerly awaited return to the Rugby World Cup after a twelve year absence.

Los Teros are to be replacing Russia as the only change to the twenty teams that competed at Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand. Head Coach Pablo Lemoine was involved in the 2011 qualifying campaign as a player and previously competed in Rugby World Cups 1999 and 2003.

His role in England and Wales will be vastly different and arguably tougher as Los Teros compete in the toughest group in World Cup history. They will join Australia, England, Fiji and Wales, beginning against the sub-host nation at the Millennium Stadium on Sunday September 20.

Wales will be a much different opposition to that of the Basque Country but having completed a win is vital to the spirits of the players ahead of what is to be the biggest tournament of their careers.
