Costa Rica’s national men’s team returned to the field this weekend to compete in an international friendly against Renegades Rugby Club from Bermuda. The fixture was part of the ongoing initiatives to host incoming matches in an effort to boost rugby in the country and give the test team greater preparation.
Played at the Liceo Franco Costarricense on Saturday the visitors ran-out 44-29 winners over Los Guarias who are to compete at the Sudamérica (formerly CONSUR) C tournament following the Rugby World Cup. The four nation event will be hosted by El Savador.
For the Renegades the match was part of the pre-season. In previous years the club has visited places including Atlanta, Tampa, Montreal, Rio de Janeiro, Cuba and New Jersey.
