Camacho to make Leicester debut against Los Pumas

Gonzalo Camacho’s two-year wait to play for the Leicester Tigers will come to an end on Saturday as he lines up to play against his country, Argentina in a Rugby World Cup warm-up fixture. The Pumas winger signed for Leicester from the Exeter Chiefs to begin playing in the 2013-2014 season but suffered a severe shoulder injury playing against New Zealand which he has now only fully recovered from.

Despite having played very well against Australia in the Rugby Championship Camacho was left out of Daniel Hourcade’s Rugby World Cup roster due to him being deemed to high of an injury risk. In his place Horacio Agulla was selected for a third World Cup, joining Juan Imhoff, Lucas González Amorosino and Santiago Cordero as the wingers.

Camacho will now have the oppoirtunity of playing against his own country. In a testimony to veteran Puma and Tiger, Marcos Ayerza, the club made the decision to play the match. It is to be Argentina’s final game before opening the World Cup against New Zealand in London on day two of the tournament.
