Toulon fall to Racing 92 in Top 14 Opener

France’s 2014 Champions, Toulon hosted Racing 92 this evening in the opening match of the 2015-2016 season. Playing at home the reigning European Rugby Champions Cup winners were tested and defeated by the Parisians who completed a 27-22 victory.

Both teams were unable to field their strongest teams due to players missing in preparation for the upcoming Rugby World Cup. Among the missing players were Argentine internationals Juan Imhoff, Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe and USA forward Samu Manoa. Also missing was Manuel Carizza who rejoined the club recently after two years playing in South Africa for the Stormers.
