South American B Under 19s kicking-off on Sunday

The Under 19 teams from Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela are to compete in the South American B tournament in La Guajira, Colombia. The four nations competition serves as a repechage qualifier with the winner advancing to face Paraguay who finished bottom of the South American A competition played recently in Asunción.

Colombia now has an ideal opportunity to underline the hard work being done to see South America’s second largest populated country to rise to join the Sudamérica A level nations. Home advantage is certain to tip the scale in Los Tucanes advantage with the Estadio Federico Serrano Soto de Riohacha in La Guajira near the Venezuelan border hosting the tournament.

Despite it being a Sudámerica Rugby tournament there is a NACRA member competing. Indeed Mexico joins the host nation in addition to Peru and Venezuela o determine who will be the 2015 champion and advance to face Paraguay in Asunción in February 2016.

Colombia’s chances would appear very strong given that the country is in search of being a six time champion after having previously won in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014.
