Three Pumas named in SANZAR select XV

SANZAR has released the official Rugby Championship team of the week. Selected using Opta Sports statistical analysis, the team includes three Pumas following their historic win over South Africa in Durban. The selection once again highlights the limitations of such selection methods, with four Springboks nominated despite being comprehensively outplayed by Argentina.

Scrumhalf Tomás Cubelli, centre Marcelo Bosch, and record-setting winger Juan Imhoff are all in the side, with Imhoff achieving the highest Opta Index score of the week by a wide margin. There are no places for any Argentine forwards, with none of the dominant front row or back row units rating high enough to earn selection.

Four players each from Australia and New Zealand round out the side, with Scott Fardy the highest rated forward. No SANZAR select sides were named for the first two rounds of the Championship.
