Smiling Adults and Children Discover rugby in Bolivia

Rugby is growing throughout the Americas and the South American landlocked country of Bolivia is no exception. The country is aiming to to be a part of the 2018 Juegos Odesur – the South American Games by fielding a Rugby Sevens team for the first time.

The 2018 Games are to take place in the Bolivian city of Cochabama, the country’s fourth largest. Hard work is well underway to identify and prepare players and, importantly, prepare them for the mental side to rugby – the passion and discipline.

This past weekend an initiative took place in the capital, La Paz with a local club, La Paz Rugby Club, working together with the British Embassy in Bolivia to help grow the image of rugby and increase awareness ahead of the Rugby World Cup in England and Wales which starts in a little over a month from today.

Adults and children alike gathered to pass rugby balls and experience something new. The country’s five neighbors are all members of Sudámerica Rugby and there exists a path for Bolivia to become a member overtime.
