Canada names Can-Am Cup team

Head coach Jen Boyd has named 26 players to take part in the women’s under 20 Can-Am Cup, a two-game competition against the USA taking place on August 19 and 22 at Central Washington University. Canada won last year’s Cup by a combined score of 94-11 over two days.

Included are returning players Emily Tuttosi, Alex Ellis, Fabiola Forteza, and Katie Svoboda. Absent are DaLeaka Menin, Tiffany Picketts, Jess Neilson, and Julia Folk, who have been left out to concentrate on senior women’s duties after all taking part in the Women’s Rugby Super Series in Alberta last month.

Alex Tessier and Camille Provençal-Aubé are also graduates of last year’s program who have gone on to win senior honours.

Boyd is a former Canadian international herself, and the 2014 CIS Coach of the Year. Helping her with the team is Atlantic high performance manager Les Gilson and former senior men’s international Gary Dukelow.  Also helping out in a development role is 2014 World Cup team member Kim Donaldson, who announced her retirement from international rugby earlier this year.
