Pumas in Tears following RWC 2007 Semi Final Exit

Argentina’s history-making march to the Semi Finals of Rugby World Cup 2007 caught the imagination of the country. So much so that El Súper Clásico  between Boja Juniors and River Plate was delayed. The South Americans eliminated Scotland and Ireland in addition to completing two wins over the host nation, France en route to finishing third.

The country was firmly behind the team and the players believed they had what was required to reach the final and, indeed, win the tournament. Argentina came close but a change of game plan against a strong Springbok team saw Los Pumas eliminated.

Eight years on Argentina has a very different team but the likes of Horacio Agulla, Jua Martín Hernández, Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe and Juan Manuel Leguizamón all remain in the squad. Of them all except Fernández Lobbe will travel to South Africa this Saturday for next weekend’s Rugby Championship match.
