Blow to Pumas as Ramiro Herrera Requires Surgery

Having started at tighthead prop in the opening two rounds of the Rugby Championship Ramiro Herrera was well placed to wear the number 3 shirt for Argentina at the World Cup. His place is now in doubt and with the non-availability of Juan Figallo and the forced retirement of Maximilano Bustos Argentina has lost top tighthead props.

Herrera suffered a ligament injury in his left knee at training and will require surgery. He is scheduled to be operated on tomorrow thereby ruling him out of the Rugby Championship match against South Africa in Durban on August 08.

No official word has been made as to his fitness for the Rugby World Cup but his plays is now in serious doubt. Without him Daniel Hourcade has Francisco Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro and Matías Díaz as his tighthead prop options.
