Argentine Squad named to face Uruguay

A 23-man Argentine squad has been named for Saturday’s away match against Uruguay. Los Teros will play host to the Argentina XV at the Estadio Charrúa with kick-off scheduled for 3:30pm. Both countries are to compete at this year’s Rugby World Cup and for Uruguay the match is to be the final one at home before departing.

Argentine coaches Felipe Contepomi and Ricardo Lefort have called upon a squad made up mainly of players from Argentine provinces but there are places for a handful of players contracted to the UAR. There are opportunities for some players to push for a possible Rugby World Cup call-up. The loss of Juan Figallo and doubt of Ramiro Herrera places importance on the performance of Santiago García Botta.

Also playing will be Rodrigo Báez and Santiago Iglesias Valdéz, two players used regularly by Daniel Hourcade in 2014 and 2015. The team will depart Buenos Aires for Montevideo on Friday.
