RugbyTown 7s Brings International Flair

The England National team isn’t the only International side making a visit to Glendale, Colorado this Summer. The 4th Annual SEREVI RugbyTown Sevens kicks off in just over three weeks at Infinity Park. The tournament is one of the highlighted sevens tournaments on the American rugby calendar. This year, 17 teams from five different countries will challenge for the title and $10,000 purse.

International sides making the trip to Colorado include Upright Rugby Rogues (Canada), Mexico National Team, Bermuda National Team, and Bahamas National Team. They are joined by a who’s who list of elite American sides including the USA All Americans, Negro y Azul, Atlantis, Denver Elite, Glendale Raptors, Stars 7s, SEREVI Selects, and a full complement of United States Armed Forces teams.

This marks the first season that all of the Military branches are represented. The tournament will also serve to crown the Military Champion as the Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Army all challenge not only for the RugbyTown Sevens crown, but bragging rights amongst the Military branches.

“The tournament continues to grow in stature as we enter the fourth year of the competition,” said Glendale Raptors Director of Rugby Mark Bullock. “There are more international teams competing and the USA military teams have raised the standard of their play.”

Past RugbyTown Sevens champions include the All Americans (2013) and USA Falcons (2012 & 2014). The Falcons are the developmental side for the USA National Team. Coming off an extremely busy year for the USA 7s program, the Falcons will not be making an appearance at the RugbyTown Sevens this season.

The SEREVI RugbyTown Sevens runs from August 14-16, 2015 in Glendale, Colorado.
