USA South & Mexico Advance to NACRA U19 Championship

USA Rugby South Blue and Mexico survived their semifinal opponents and the weather to advance to the NACRA U19 Championship game to be played this weekend. Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago will meet in the 3rd/4th place playoff.

Mexico 15 Trinidad & Tobago 13 – Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago were the first semifinal up and the two sides battled through a closely fought match that pitted two very different styles of play. Mexico with a conservative game plan and Trinidad & Tobago who attempted to use their speed to play a wide open style of rugby. Despite controlling a great deal of possession and territory, Trinidad & Tobago were repeatedly turned away by mistakes combined with a solid Mexican defense.

USA Rugby South Blue 32 Barbados 7 – USA South Blue took control of the match early and stretched their lead slowly throughout the match as they took down a Barbados side that didn’t have any trouble scoring points in the quarterfinals.

Tomorrow the consolation matches take place as USA Rugby South Red take on Cayman Islands and Turks & Caicos takes on Bermuda.
