Lisandro Arbizu joins Libourne Coaching Staff

Former 86 time capped Puma Lisandro Arbizu has signed a contract to join the coaching staff of French third division side the Union athlétique Libournaise (UAL) in the south-western town of Libourne. Located on the outskirts of Bordeaux the new home of Arbizu is very much within the heartlands of French rugby.

UAL announced the arrival of Arbizu with praise: ”it is official, Lisando Arbizu, a true legend of Argentine rugby and emblematic captain of Los Pumas, has joined the UAL staff alongside David Banquet and Xavier Pierre”. He will act as skills coach

Arbizu’s extensive playing career saw him capped 86 times by Argentina during which time he played in three Rugby World Cups . He debuted against Ireland in 1990 as a 19 year old and played his last test in 2005 against Italy in Córdoba.

As a professional athlete Arbizu played in France for Brive, Bordeaux, Pau and Bayonne from 1997-2006 and subsequently played for Parma and Capoterra before playing for Valladolid in Spain. While at Capoterra and Valladolid he was not only a player but also a coach.
