Basauri Signs with Stade Nantais

US Eagle flanker/2nd row Inaki Basauri is on the move as he has signed with Stade Nantais in the French Federale 2, the third division in French rugby under Pro D2. The Mexican-born Basauri, 30, has been capped by the Eagles 18 times with his first appearance coming in 2007. Basauri was a member of the USA’s 2007 and 2011 World Cup squads. He is currently in camp with the Eagles fighting for an opportunity to play in his third World Cup.

Basauri has spent the better part of the last nine years plying his trade professionally in France with a short stint in Italy. His most recent club was Tarbes in the French Pro D2 league. Basauri spent the last three seasons with Tarbes making 47 appearances for the club. Basauri joins a Stade Nantais club that finished 4th in the Federale 2 during the 2014/2015 season.
