Chilean prop Roberto Oyarzún called up by Northland

An Impressive month in June for Roberto Oyarzún has seen the former Old Navy Club front-rower being called up by New Zealand provincial side Northland for the upcoming Championship Division  of the ITM Cup, New Zealand’s domestic professional competition.

Having performed well for Waipu in a local club competition the Chilean front-rower went on to play for the combined Wairoa / Rodney who won the Harding Shield after defeating Mangonui. The 101 year old tournament had not been won by his team for the past 35 years.

Following the onfield success Roberto Oyarzún was called up by the Northland, New Zealand’s northern most province which competes in the ITM Cup.

Capped five times by his native Chile Oyarzún is a player well placed to feature in the proposed Americas Six Nations which seeks to have Chile and Brazil joining the Americas’ four Rugby World Cup 2015 competitors in a new annual competition.
