Preliminary Springboks Squad Named for Rugby Championship

South African Head Coach Heyneke Meyer has named a 36 man squad for the Rugby Championship.  The Preliminary Squad features a total of 49 players of whom 8 are uncapped. The majority of selected players play their rugby for South African Super Rugby franchises. There are, however, places for players based in England, France, Ireland and Japan.

In addition to the 36 squad members Meyer and his colleagues have listed 13 currently injured or otherwise unavailable players who are to feature against the World XV, the Rugby Championship and the post-tournament against Argentina in Buenos Aires.
