Chile’s Anton Petrowitsch wins MVP award in New Zealand club

Chilean international Anton Petrowitsch is one of a group of players to have looked to grow as rugby players by flying across the South Pacific to New Zealand. The four time capped back-rower is based in the Christchurch suburb of Sumner where he plays for the local club in the Canterbury competition.

On June 6 the Condor was honored by winning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for his performance for Sumner vs Shirley and received positive feedback on the Canterbury Rugby union’s official website. Petrowitsch was sited as having been prominent at the break-down in being able to win key turn-overs for his team.

Sumner won the fixture 34-17 with Petrowitsch having a hand in creating the play that led up to the first try. Aged 21 Petrowitsch is a likely player for Chile in the Americas Six Nations which is expected to begin in Feburary 2016.
