Despite losing against Georgia this past weekend Uruguay has risen in the official World Rankings to 20th ahead of Spain. Georgia won the fixture 19-10 while Romania defeated Spain 35-9 with the extent of the margin causing the Spanish to fall behind Los Teros.
Uruguay is ranked fourth in the Americas behind Argentina, the USA and Canada whom are 8th, 16th and 17th respectively in the official World Rankings. Russia is unique in being in the Top 20 but not playing in this year’s Rugby World Cup. Uruguay qualified after defeating Russia on aggregate.
Although there is no place for Russia Namibia, ranked 22nd, will play in a fifth consecutive Rugby World Cup. The Africans remain winless after fifteen pool matches. They will face Argentina, Georgia, New Zealand and Tonga in pool play this year.
