Castres sign Argentine Prop

France’s 2013 champions Castres have confirmed the arrival of uncapped Argentine tighthead prop Lucas Martínez. The 26 year old joins the south-western French club as a medical joker to provide cover for the club during the Rugby World Cup. His contract will last from July 01 to November 01. Also arriving is Eric Sione from Hurricanes in Wellington, New Zealand for the same motive.

Martínez’s arrival follows the departure of Ramiro Herrera who has agreed to terms with the UAR to play Super Rugby for the Argentine franchise. Despite being uncapped Martínez has been in the frame for Argentina. He played for Los Jaguares in the 2014 Americas Rugby Championship in Canada and for the Pampas XV in the 2015 Pacific Challenge in Fiji.

In what is to be his first professional experience abroad Martínez will be making the move to France from Buenos Aires club Lomas Athletic.
