Los Condores Eyeing Olympic Qualifiers

Los Condores Head coach  Paul Healy and the national men’s Rugby Sevens coach Edmundo Olfos have selected a squad of players for the upcoming Olympic Games Qualification taking place this weekend in Santa Fé, Argentina. The three day event will feature men’s and women’s qualifiers with the top side in each category securing their places at Rio de Janeiro 2016.

Following the Seven de Benidorm, in which Los Condores finished in second position, the team has undergone a training regime in Viña del Mar to prepare for the continent’s most important event of the year. For the Chilean men’s side competition gets underway against Venezuela on Friday morning and a demanding day will also see Los Condores facing both Argentina and Peru.

Despite there only being one Olympic qualification spot up-for-grabs the second and third placed teams from Santa Fé will enter repecharge with a final opportunity of qualifying. As such, regardless of Friday’s results, Chile will have everything to play for in Saturdays matches against Uruguay and Paraguay and Sunda’ys fixture against Colombia.
