The Chilean women’s rugby selectors have confirmed the country’s 12 women who will compete in the upcoming Olympic Games qualification tournament in Santa Fé, Argentina. The three day tournament will see the Chileans competing against Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The Chilean women’s, or Las Cóndores, will begin their participation on Friday against Paraguay at 10:14am and also play matches against Peru and Colombia before continuing the qualification process on Saturday with matches against Venezuela and Costa Rica. The toughest day is likely to be Sunday when the Chilean women face both Argentina and Uruguay.
The top performing team at the completion of the tournament will earn direct qualification to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The second and third placed sides will have a further opportunity at securing the last remaining place by competing in repechage against teams from other continental regions.
