Spain will play host to Fiji, Uruguay and the USA in November 2024. The annual end-of-year series will see Los Leones taking-on Fiji, Uruguay and the USA in three test matches. It is an exciting fixture list for Spain who are eyeing a return to the Rugby World Cup 28 years after debuting in 1999.
Coach by former Puma Pablo Bouza, Spain are showing good signs of progression. Los Leones completed a two match tour of Oceania in July 2024. First, Spain led Samoa before falling to a late defeat in Apia. Then, Spain defeated Tonga in Nuku’alofa. The historic win over Tonga ranks on Spain’s Mount Rushmore.
Attention has quickly turned to November. Spain has secure a home series against noteworthy opponents; teams that Bouza and Los Leones can genuinely test themselves against. Fiji is a three-time Quarter Finalist at World Cups including in 2023. Uruguay has played at five World Cups and the USA has played at eight.
Bouza and Spain are firmly eyeing Rugby World Cup 2027. Fiji have already qualified while Spain, Uruguay and the USA are all very strong contenders; all are expected to be among the 24 teams in Australia 2027.
The dates and venues for Spain’s test matches are unconfirmed. Interestingly, the home series means that Los Leones will compete the Pacific Islands treble by facing Samoa, Tonga and Fiji in one year.
Fiji are ranked 10th in the World Rankings. Uruguay are 17th, Spain 18th and the USA are 19th. The historic results between Spain and the three others are displayed below. Los Leones have never beaten Fiji or the USA Eagles. Spain has played vastly more matches against Uruguay and has a 50% winning record against Los Teros.
