Austin change team name to Herd

Austin’s Major League Rugby franchise are no longer the Elite. After extensive polling at the end of the 2019 campaign, the team has opted to re-name itself the Herd. The logo will stay identical though there appears to be a shift away from using orange for the upcoming season.

It will be a new-look team from top to bottom in 2020 with Todd Clever installed as the Director of Rugby and a Head Coach still to be confirmed. Rumors of a potential move to San Antonio were quelled when the team confirmed a return to Round Rock Multipurpose Complex after spending 2019 at Dell Diamond.

On the roster front, a host of senior players have moved to pastures new – among them captain Ben Mitchell, Eagles hooker Peter Malcolm, and Canada’s Larsen brothers Josh and Travis. New arrivals are just now starting to be confirmed with more to follow in the coming weeks.
