The fixture list for the 2018 Americas Rugby Championship is now set with only some venues and kickoff times to be revealed.
Of note is that Canada will have only one home game during the tournament, with their February 3 match doubling as the second leg of the Americas 2 World Cup Qualifying series against Uruguay. The first leg will be played a week earlier at Vancouver’s BC Place. Los Teros will accordingly have three home matches during the ARC for a second straight year.
Correction: In an unusual situation, the first leg of the Americas 2 World Cup Qualifying series between Canada and Uruguay will double as the opening round of the Americas Rugby Championship, despite the second match coming on the same day as the intended opening day of February 3. This change has been made to accommodate the home-and-away ratio for Canada, restoring their two home fixtures. The ARC will thus technically begin on January 27 in Vancouver.
A three-game home stand will give defending champions USA an opportunity to open the tournament on a positive note. On Saturday they revealed the locations of their second and third matches. The Eagles will host Canada at Papa Murphy’s Park in Sacramento on February 10, and have invited Los Cóndores to Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Stadium on February 10. Their tournament opener against the Argentina XV will be part of ‘International Rugby Saturday‘ at the StubHub Center on February 3.
Canada’s difficult schedule will see them host Brazil in their only home game on February 17 after returning from Sacramento. The venue has yet to be revealed. They will return south to end the tournament with matches against the Argentina XV at Gimnasia y Esgrima club in Jujuy on February 24, and close the tournament against Chile in La Serena at a venue to be revealed.
Chile will play their other home matches in Santiago while Brazil have yet to reveal the location of their three homes matches.
