Chile is to play in a historic four-match tour in November. Los Cóndores’ incorporation into international activity sees the Chileans’ dream turning into reality.
Following a series of meetings involving Sudamérica Rugby and World Rugby it can now be confirmed that Chile will play away matches in both Asia and Europe in November.
Chile will play three test matches in Asia and one in Europe. The tour will begin in Hong Kong where Los Cóndores are to play matches on November 10, 14 and 18. The games are to be a part of a special World Rugby tournament also involving Hong Kong, Kenya and Russia.
After playing matches against all three, Los Cóndores will fly to Frankfurt where they will play a test match against Germany. With the Germans also hosting Brazil and the USA it gives them a home series against Americas opposition for the second time in as many years.
For Chile it marks a history-making tour. It comes following Chile’s elevation to regular international competition as a result of the Americas Rugby Championship. In November 2016 Chile hosted South Korea for two test matches.
Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay are, like Chile, to play away matches in November. Of them Uruguay will also make history by playing two matches in Africa against Namibia.
