Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe is to play one last season for Toulon. The former Pumas captain has signed a one-year del to remain at the French club until June 2018.
The 35-year-old joined Toulon in 2009. He made the move from the Aviva Premiership. In doing so he left the Sale Sharks, the team he had been captain of until departing.
Fernández Lobbe moved as one of a number of high profile players. The club was able to put together an impressive side. Indeed, Toulon won three consecutive European Champions Cup titles. Fernández Lobbe was involved in all of them. He also won the Top 14 title with the club.
The 2017-2018 season will be the last for Fernández Lobbe. The club has previously stated its desire for the Argentine to join there coaching staff upon retirement.
For Argentina, Fernández Lobbe earned 71 caps. This saw him appearing in three Rugby World Cups, including two Semi Finals.
