Former Wallaby signs for PRO Denver

Australian dual-international Timana Tahu has signed for the Denver PRO Rugby franchise. The long-time National Rugby League (NRL) star made a splash on the rugby union scene in 2008 when he signed a big money deal with the Australian Rugby Union and the Waratahs. After two Super Rugby seasons in Sydney and winning four caps for the Wallabies he returned to the NRL in 2010.

Though his stay in union was relatively brief, his league career was long and impressive that also included one match for the New Zealand Maori league side in 2010 and several appearances in State of Origin for New South Wales. While at Newcastle Knights he posted an impressive record of 82 tries in 97 games over five seasons, and also touched down five times in five games for Australia. He spent three seasons with Parramatta Eels before his move to the Waratahs, and returned to the club in 2010 before a short stay at Penrith Panthers and two more seasons at his original team in Newcastle.

Tahu, 35, did not play professionally in 2015, taking a full year off to recover from injuries accumulated during his league career. The midfielder joins a strong stable of players in Denver that includes current Eagles Chad London and Mike Garrity, and a heavy supporting cast largely drawn from the Glendale Raptors of the Pacific Rugby Premiership (PRP).
