Ai’i to play PRO Rugby in San Francisco

PRO Rugby has confirmed that Orene Ai’i will be playing for the San Francisco team in the inaugural season.

Now aged 36, Ai’i has had a decorated career which has seen the Samoan-born, New Zealand capped outside back play professional rugby in France, Japan, and New Zealand. Due to prior eligibility rules being different the Apia native was capped by both the Samoa and New Zealand Sevens teams.

Ai’i is a former winner of the prestigious World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year. His move to play PRO Rugby follows the signings of other noteworthy players including Mirco Bergamasco, Phil Mackenzie and Pedrie Wannenburg.
