Argentina Roster for Americas Rugby Championship Named

Argentina’s roster for the Americas Rugby Championship has been named. Head Coach of the Argentina XV, Pablo Bouza will be taking with him 26 players to North America for the opening round of the competition. The Argentina XV will play away to the USA in Houston, Texas on February 06.

The roster features three Super Rugby contracted players – Rodrigo Báez, Matías Orlando and Ramiro Moyano. The former two are recovering from injuries which complicated their years in 2015. Moyano, meanwhile, stepped in for Joaquín Tuculet to start at fullback against the Barbarians in London in November.

The trio are joined by a number of highly promising players on the verge of Super Rugby contracts. Facundo Bosch and Gonzalo Bertranou are such instances. Also named are a number of young but highly promising players including Ignacio Larrague, Domingo Miotti and Joaquín Paz.

In naming his roster Pablo Bouza, stated that “as always, the central objective is set to expand the player base, providing many of them with the opportunity to be playing at an international competitive level“.

Bauza’s assistant, Diego Ternavasio, expressed that “the game structure of the UAR’s teams is to be the same that we will use with the Argentina XV“.

The Argentina XV is Argentina’s official ‘A’ side, making it the second team after Los Pumas. The UAR has nonetheless stated repeatedly that matches in the Americas Rugby Championship will be full internationals with caps awarded.
